Navi Mumbaikars walk with Fortis to create cancer awareness
NAVI MUMBAI: On the occasion of ‘World Cancer Day’, Fortis Vashi organized a walkathon to create awareness about cancer. Flagged-off at the Utsav Chowk, Kharghar, the initiative witnessed 500 participants who championed the cause by holding placards and banners covered a distance of 3 kilometers. Dr Tejinder Singh, Oncologist and Dr Manisha Bobade, Facility Director, flagged off the walkathon.
Dr Singh said, “The theme of this World Cancer Day – ‘We can and I can’, was guiding principle behind organizing this walkathon.

Cancer is a disease that can be prevented with regular screening. However, the general awareness around importance of regular screening among people is abysmally low. All of us participated in this walkathon today with a hope that people became aware about cancer and how best to prevent it.”
